Retailers Pushing Back Black Friday

Black friday is drawing near and along with it comes the shopping buzz anticipated by everyone. Retailers are making their preparations starting from their store schedules. Changes made by retailers include moving their Black Friday offers earlier into Thanksgiving day. Besides this, they are also extending the event beyond 24 hours like Kmart which plan to provide a marathon shopping experience lasting 41 hours.

The trend of extended store hours has been adapted widely during the last two years but not without earning flak since it would overlap with the traditional holiday family dinner. The holiday creep was led by Toys R Us two years ago at Thanksgiving night when they opened their shops at 9 p.m. This prompted other retailers like Walmart, Kmart, Sears and Target to follow the shift.
